Washington DC

We were lucky enough to get to DC before the heavy rains and winds came wiping out the last of the Cherry Blossoms.  As soon as we arrived we hopped in the Jeep and drove into DC to see the blossoms from the road!  We stayed at Cherry Hill RV Park, one that we had stayed before during the hottest July they had experienced in years.  This time we arrived during one of the coldest April's they experienced - ha!  a no win situation.  We have been running our heat almost every day since we left Florida.  Hummm, perhaps we departed a tad too early!  Anyway we took the Metro the remainder of our time in DC, fantastic way to travel, clean, easy and not too expensive.  As you can see from our photos we pretty much did DC.  First thing on our priority list was to get to Legal Seafoods and have lunch!  Les loves their chowdah !  We had a chance to spend a lot of time in the museums this visit and we both enjoyed them.  We think we have had our fill of DC for quite a few years now.  We will head East towards Massachusetts where you know we will be eating seafood!

Darlington SC NASCAR Race and beyond...

We try to attend at least a couple of NASCAR races every year.  Since Rockingham NC no longer hosts the Truck race we chose Darlington SC to attend the Bojangles Southern 500. We were lucky enough to secure an infield spot between a group of young men and a very nice couple from Louisana.  We enjoyed both of our neighbors but leaned toward the quieter ones from LA.  In additional to being newly wed, he whipped up a mean Jambalaya on Saturday that I enjoyed before the night race.  You wouldn't believe how large the pot was that he cooked up this masterpiece was!

We bid Darlington a Goodnight

Sunday we headed out a day early to reach College Park, MD (just outside of DC and the nicest RV Park around), before the anticipated rain/wind event.  Glad we did so we had a chance to drive into DC to see the last of the cherry blossoms before the storm wiped them out.  Today we are spending a quiet day listening to the rain, catching up on emails and letters and just relaxing.  Tomorrow we will map out where we want to go first on our museum excursion.  Of course from now on all travel to DC will be via the Metro.  We were lucky yesterday that traffic was light, thanks to school vacation, Easter break and the beginning of Passover.  We are sure we wouldn't be as lucky later in the week.

We will stay here in DC until sometime next week and then head to New England.  Les' aunt, Marion, is in a rehab center in Connecticut and we hope to be able to stop by and say hello to her on our way through.  We may even be able to grab a visit with his nephew Joshua and his family who recently relocated to Connecticut.

See Ya Florida (at least for a few months!)

We closed on the house on March 24.  We leave the neighborhood with wonderful memories and the knowledge that the family who will now raise their children there are just delightful!  We wish them all the happiness we enjoyed there.

We have been very busy finishing the kitchen installation at Joshua's and just generally getting loaded to start our Summer trek!  We are eventually off to New Hampshire for the Summer.
